The Portuguese Government wanted to combine mobile technology with the history of the streets through a series of rather peculiar codes.
Aiming to promote Portugal as a tourist destination worldwide, the agency Partners took the popularity of QR codes to take to the streets and integrated into the environment.

The promotional marketing action have created QR Codes from the stones forming the floor of the Portuguese streets. Tourists could scan codes via their smartphones and access information about the site or nearest landmark.
The action was repeated in Barcelona, where users accessed the content and at the same time participating in a promotion to win a free night at a Portuguese’s hotel.
